Facing the Unexpected Mountain

I want you to remember something when you
unexpectedly face something hard, like:

a diagnosis
loss of a job
financial destruction

You are so NEW to this and you don't have all of the information yet. Everything is going to FEEL like war and the enemy of your heart pounces on that. I promise you, as time goes on you'll get to know when the real war is as opposed to when it's the enemy.

He comes into your fear all dressed up and scary and you'll find that you can just rip his costume off and say, "Nice try I'm going to sleep. Crawl back from where you came."

He roars like a lion but he's not a lion.

God can heal (of course) but He also sustains when you don't have all the information yet and you're just scared. Sometimes it never was what you feared anyway. Sometimes it's worse.  Either way, you are sustained. You have the power of the lion within you; the real One. The enemy can only mimic what he sees.

YOU have power
The enemy has pretend

And what will it hurt if you assume the best and live in that until you know more? Nothing. If you get bad news you'll experience pain anyway. If you get good news you celebrate and move on. The days until you find out more will be spent anyway.

Living in expectation of the worst isn't productive
and it doesn't protect your heart from pain.

In all of the uncertainty and all of the loss of control, YOU GET TO CHOOSE how you will react!

It's ok to feel scared and afraid and whatever feelings come, but I encourage you to fight!  Just sit at the base of the mountain that's suddenly in your way and let it be ok that it's not moved. Yet. He's giving you rest in the wait. Take it.
