When Passion Alienates and Doesn't Educate

If you want to bring a fact to light, try not to be a butthead about it m'kay? It's awesome to be passionate about a subject and to raise awareness where it's hidden but your aggressive attitude and sarcasm (which probably feels good at the time to furiously type out) can cover up your truth.

It doesn't educate, it alienates.

Do you know what happens then? The very people you're trying to reach end up turning away and never hearing you. Now if all you want to do is prove how smart you are to the people who already think like you do and who will "amen" you until Jesus comes back then, by all means, carry on.

But if you want to actually change the world with your knowledge and perspective (which we need), then throw in A WHOLE LOT of kindness and a WHOLE LOT of humility and invite others into a conversation instead of just opposing the "other side."

Your opinion can never be more important
than the people who hear it.

We aren't all going to agree or share the same views and that's not just ok, it can be beautiful. Unity in diversity is the biggest miracle of all and my favorite.

I know, some things are always wrong and we can't tolerate people saying them. That's not what I'm talking about. I'll never be in harmony with a racist jerk-wad for example. Just try to get to the heart of what I'm saying.

One more thing...racist jerk-wads are changed every day so let's not give up on the idea that people can change. As much as we fight against it, sometimes we are the ones called to speak the truth in love and stick around to SEE the change we wish to see in the world.
