Why Bad Things Happen to Good People Isn't Even the Right Question

Bad things will happen whether you think there's a God or not.

And believing in God enough doesn't stop them from happening. See that little man up there waking up from anesthesia?  His parents love their God and that little boy has met him. He still has epilepsy, food allergies, asthma, a visual processing disorder, ADHD and suffers from staggering side effects from epilepsy medications.

So remove suffering as the reason you can't believe in God. Why bad things happen to good people isn't even the right question. They happen because we live on earth. In human bodies. With sometimes messed up minds. Whether we acknowledge God or not, things that come from human hands and minds are still going to happen.

God's very presence provides comfort, His Spirit provides security but He doesn't exist to make us feel better about our circumstances or stay safe from harm. You've been told wrong, so no wonder you can't imagine why you would believe in a God that lets bad things happen to us.

A life of sin causes pain and you can't tell me we don't live in a crazy, evil world. Evil exists whether you believe in God or not. The reason Christ-followers are still capable of belief is that we decide to believe.  We commit to learn our Father's voice and let it build within us a confidence in what we hope for and an assurance of what we don't (yet) see. We accept His comfort.
